Sometimes when we are hurt, such as if a relationship ends, we tend to now all of a sudden put God or the "universe" back into our lives. I don't believe in soul mates because we aren't robots and God allows us to choose who we want to be with, good or bad.
We do what we want with our lives and if we are smart, we'll ask God for guidance FIRST on such important matters but lets face it, most people don't . They go ahead and do what they want and then when they're in dire straits or get hurt in a situation, then they remember God. Let's focus on the pain of breaking up with someone we really love- most of us have been in that boat before.
But things like this happen, do you pacify yourself by saying such things as, "it ended because God has someone out there better for me", "we just weren't meant to be", "it wasn't my time for love"??? If so, I don't mean to be the bearer of bad bad news but, you are making excuses and its silly.
People are people are people and sometimes we fail at things in life, especially in relationships because we are all imperfect and we don't always make the best decisions, including who we choose to be with. Could it be that you were just as bad a match for the person as they were for you? Trust me, most times we only get what we give out of life and if you want a wonderfully devoted man or woman then you have to be the same.
If you want an honest, responsible mate then you have to be the same way. If you want a bombshell / hunk of the week, then you probably have to be the same. Now there are exceptions to every rule, you may have been involved with a liar or a cheater and that is why the relationship failed... but were there NO red flags?? Did you overlook a few things?? Otherwise, if the relationship ended on a mutual basis, maybe because of incompatibility, then find someone who is a better fit. There is NOT one "magical being" waiting out in the world just for you. That's silly. You can make it work and be happy with many people on this planet but all you NEED is one.
What I hate is when people assume that God has something or someone BETTER in store for them, like we are so deserving. HE owes us nothing and I guarantee that for most of us, we didn' t consult God when we were choosing our mates in the first place, so why would He be inclined to control our love lives after the fact?? Doesn't make sense to me. And honestly, if God were guiding our love lives that closely then we would all stay virgins until marriage and then stay with that person until one dies. That's what His WORD the bible tells us to do. But if you haven't been living that way then don't expect God to be arranging things for you now. IJS
